Terms of Service
Effective October 11, 2026. Operated by Scion Software.
These Terms of Service govern your use of Yuti, including our website at https://www.yuti.com.ng, our installable web app and any mobile apps we publish. By creating an account or using Yuti you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Refund Policy.
Please read them. If you do not agree, do not use Yuti.
1. About Yuti
Yuti is an online marketplace operated by Scion Software. Sellers open stores and list products or services. Buyers purchase from those stores. Yuti launched first around the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (FUAM), Benue State, and is available to users across Nigeria.
Yuti is a platform. The contract of sale is between the buyer and the seller. Yuti is not the seller of items that sellers list, and does not own, inspect or deliver those items (see section 14).
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be able to form a legally binding contract to use Yuti. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use Yuti only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.
You agree to give accurate information when you register, to keep your password private, and to tell us promptly if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You can sign out of all other devices from Settings.
One account can act as both a buyer and a seller. You switch between the two views on the Me page.
3. Buyers and sellers
Every Yuti account can buy. Selling needs extra steps: you set up a store and link a payout account. A buyer cannot purchase from a store until that store has a linked payout account.
When you open a store you confirm that the items you list are genuine, accurately described and legally yours to sell, and that you are allowed to sell them in Nigeria. As a seller you agree to:
- describe items, prices, stock and delivery fees accurately and keep them up to date;
- accept each paid order by marking it shipped within 24 hours of payment (see the Refund Policy);
- deliver what the buyer paid for, as described;
- use the delivery code only at the real handoff, and never ask a buyer for the code before they have received the item;
- link a payout account that belongs to you or to your registered business;
- handle your own taxes, licences and permits.
4. Prices, fees and payments
Prices are shown in naira. The total a buyer pays is shown before payment and may include: the item price; a small amount that covers the payment processing charge, so the seller can receive the price they listed; the delivery fee set by the seller; and an optional escrow protection fee.
Payments are processed by Paystack, a licensed third-party payment processor. Yuti does not collect or store your full card details. Paystack handles them under its own security standards and terms. When a buyer pays, Paystack directs the seller's share to the seller's payout account and the remainder to Yuti. The seller's share reaches their bank according to Paystack's settlement schedule.
- Commission plan: sellers pay Yuti a commission on completed sales at the rate shown for their plan in Settings and the Seller Dashboard (currently 8% of the item price).
- Subscription plan: a flat monthly fee (currently ₦1,600) billed through Paystack. New subscribers get a 90-day trial. No commission is charged while the subscription is active. After you change plan you cannot change again for 30 days. You can cancel in Settings.
- Escrow protection: an optional fee of 1% of the item price that a buyer can add to an item. It is explained in section 5.
- Paid promotion: sellers can buy promotion for a fixed period at the price shown when they buy. Promotion that has started is not refundable unless we fail to run it. Promoted content must follow these Terms.
We may change fees, plans and prices. We will give sellers reasonable notice in the app, on the website or by email. Changes do not affect orders already paid for.
If you see a failed, duplicate or incorrect charge, contact us at support@yuti.com.ng with your order number and we will investigate.
5. Escrow protection window
Where escrow protection is selected on an order, Yuti applies a protection window during which the buyer may raise a dispute if there is a problem with the order, for example an item that did not arrive or does not match its description.
This protection is a service commitment that Yuti provides and manages directly. It is not an arrangement in which Yuti holds the payment separately from the seller. Payments are processed and settled through Paystack in the normal course of business. The protection window decides how Yuti handles a dispute raised during that period, including working with the seller toward a resolution and, where appropriate, refunding the buyer under the Refund Policy.
6. Orders, delivery and the delivery code
When a payment succeeds the order is marked paid and the seller is notified. The seller prepares the order and marks it shipped. Delivery arrangements (time, place and courier) are between the buyer and the seller. Yuti is not responsible for any courier the seller uses.
Each store in an order receives its own one-time delivery code. The buyer shows or gives the code to the seller when the item is handed over. When the seller enters or scans the code, the handoff for that store is recorded as confirmed. An order is marked delivered when every store in it has confirmed. Buyers should give the code only when they have actually received the item.
7. Refunds and cancellations
If a seller has not marked a paid order as shipped within 24 hours, the buyer may contact Yuti to request a review. Refunds are not automatic; Yuti reviews the circumstances and decides whether cancellation or a refund is appropriate. The full rules are in the Refund Policy at https://www.yuti.com.ng/refund-policy, which forms part of these Terms.
8. Disputes
If a problem arises between a buyer and a seller, contact us at support@yuti.com.ng with your order number. Yuti will review the order, the messages and the delivery code records relevant to the dispute, and may ask both sides for information.
Yuti decides in good faith on the information available. Depending on the outcome, we may refund the buyer, ask the seller to refund the buyer, adjust or withhold a seller's payout to the extent we are able to within the settlement process, recover refunded amounts from the seller, or suspend an account.
9. Content, messages and reviews
You own the content you post, including photos, descriptions, messages and reviews. By posting it you give Yuti a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it as needed to run the service. For stores, this includes showing your store and listings in link previews and in Yuti's own channels to promote your store.
Reviews must be honest and based on a real purchase. Messages are private between the people in the conversation, but we may review them where needed to investigate fraud, abuse, a dispute or a legal request. We may remove content that breaks these Terms.
10. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to use Yuti to:
- list illegal, counterfeit, stolen or unsafe items, or anything that Nigerian law forbids you to sell;
- misrepresent yourself, your store or your goods, or impersonate another person;
- avoid Yuti's payment system for a transaction that began on Yuti, for example by asking a buyer to pay outside the platform;
- post fake reviews or manipulate ratings;
- harass, threaten, defraud or spam other users;
- collect data from Yuti by automated means, other than search engine crawlers that follow our robots file;
- upload malware, interfere with security, or try to access accounts or data that are not yours.
11. Our intellectual property
The Yuti name, logo, design and software belong to Scion Software. You may use the service as these Terms allow. You may not copy, modify or resell the service or use our name or logo without permission.
12. Suspension and ending your account
We may suspend or end an account that breaks these Terms, is involved in fraud, or puts other users at risk. You can close your account at any time from Settings by choosing Delete account. Records of completed transactions may be kept after deletion where the law or a dispute requires it. See the Privacy Policy.
13. Disclaimers
Yuti is provided as it is and as available. We work to keep it running but do not promise that it will always be uninterrupted or error free. Yuti is not a party to the sale between a buyer and a seller.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Yuti is not liable for the quality, safety or legality of items listed by sellers, for the conduct of any user, or for indirect or consequential loss. Where Yuti is found liable to you, our total liability for a claim is limited to the fees Yuti received from the transaction that the claim relates to. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will tell you in the app, on the website or by email. If you keep using Yuti after an update takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve a problem informally. Any dispute that cannot be settled informally is subject to the courts of competent jurisdiction in Nigeria.
